Debt Review is a legal process designed to help people who are struggling with their monthly debt repayments. A registered debt counsellor reviews your finances and helps structure your repayments around what you can realistically afford, giving you a clear and manageable path towards becoming debt-free.

If you are struggling to meet your monthly debt repayments, you may qualify. We can assess your financial situation to determine whether Debt Review is suitable for you.

The duration depends on your income, expenses and total debt. Your repayment period is based on what you can realistically afford.

Your credit profile will reflect that you are under Debt Review, and you generally cannot take further credit while under the process. Once you complete the process and receive your clearance, the debt review status will be removed and you will be credit worthy within two weeks after the clearance.

Debt review is designed to prevent repossession. Threats to repossess assets, start legal action, or cancel debt review are unlawful once you are in the process and protected by a granted court order, governed by the NCR.

Debt counselling fees are regulated by the National Credit Regulator and depend on your circumstances and the stage of the process. All applicable fees will be explained before you proceed.

Administration and sequestration are different legal processes from debt review. If you are already in one of them, debt review may not be available in the same way. Contact us before you apply so we can look at your situation honestly.

Generally, no. You cannot take out further credit while under Debt Review. Once your clearance certificate has been issued, you can apply for credit again.

Yes. When your affairs are assessed, all your accounts are placed under debt review and a restructured payment is calculated to suit your financial situation.

For most people, Debt Review does not affect their employment. Your employer is not automatically notified simply because you enter Debt Review.
